The Tracks of the Marsden
Comets in C2 (and here
in C3)
The
Tracks of the Meyer Comets in C2
The Tracks of the Kracht Comets in C2
The Tracks of the Kracht2 Comets in C2
The tracks are drawn
for the 15th day of each month.
The tracks are running from red to blue to gray.
(Jan, Feb, Mar, Oct, Nov, Dec: left to right)
(Apr, May, Jun; Jul; Aug, Sep: right to left)
The first gray number is at the perihelion of the orbit.
Numbers are drawn every 30 minutes.
The numbers give the velocities in pixel/hour for the C2
1024*1024 images.
The elements used are the weighted means of the elements of the twelve confirmed Marsden comets (2002 July):
q = 0.0487, peri = 23.0, node = 81.9, incl = 26.4 deg (L = 102.7, B = +10.0).
The weights are the lengths of the observation times (last obs - first obs).
C/1998 A2 0.10 days (from
T+0.14 to +0.24 days in C2)
C/1998 A3 0.14 days (from T+0.16 to +0.30 days in C2)

C/1999 J6 1.66 days (from T-0.86 to -0.13 days in C2 and T-0.14
to +0.80 in C3)
C/1999 N5 0.84 days (from T-0.30 to +0.32 days in C2 and T+0.33
to +0.54 in C3)
C/1999 P6 0.25 days (from T-0.05 to +0.20 days in C2)
C/1999 P8 0.23 days (from T+0.01 to +0.24 days in C2)
C/1999 P9 0.36 days (from T+0.19 to +0.55 days in C2)
C/1999 U2 1.28 days (from T-0.77 to -0.39 days in C2 and T-0.01
to +0.51 in C3)
C/2000 C7 0.11 days (from T+0.00 to +0.11 days in C2)
C/2000 C3 0.54 days (from T-0.03 to +0.52 days in C2)
C/2000 C4 0.77 days (from T-0.01 to +0.50 days in C2 and T-0.27
to -0.06 in C3)
All observations are close to the time of
perihelion (T).
In C2 the times are from T-0.77 to T+0.55 and in C3 the times are
from T-0.14 to T+0.80 days.
The following C2 tracks run from T-1.00
to T+1.00 days.
Tracks of the known Marsden comets (2002 Mar 18):

MPEC 2002-E25
Drawn are the mean Marsden orbit for 22:20 UTC and the
measured positions (black circles).
The velocities derived from the positions are 82 (21:07 - 22:07)
and 79 pixel/h (22:07 - 23:32).
This is the fifth member of the Marsden group.

measured positions (black circles).
The velocities derived from the positions are 85 (23:28 - 00:30)
